Bio
31 years; 31 years!! as a band - and the Caprockers are still around; still relevant; and still working on new projects. Their latest endeavor is a six-song EP entitled “You're Too Loud” which was completed in January, 2023. Recorded in Levelland, Texas as part of a project at South Plains College which is known for it's excellence and the talent that has made major music strides. The album was then produced and mastered by long time Restless Heart Keyboard/ Vocalist Dave Innis at Innismusicproductions.
“You're Too Loud” consists of six cover songs the band has enjoyed playing over the years. Lead vocalist Jeff Nicholson explains - “We did three albums over the years and wrote most of those songs. We decided to do something – as part of the South Plains College project – that would be fun and that we could leave behind someday. Hopefully people will enjoy it..” The EP will be available for download in the coming weeks.
The CapRockers formed – as a band – in 1991 first playing Texas Country and Classic Rock under the name of RiverWind until 2007 when they decided to play more of a Classic Rock base with an occasional Texas Country sound. Sound confusing? Not really, the band is the same as it was in the 1990's; only the name changed. The Caprockers are:
Jeff Nicholson – Lead vocals/acoustic guitar
Phil Brown - Drums/ vocals
Michael Corbin – Lead guitar/ vocals
Greg Hodges - Bass guitar/ vocals
Brad Green - Hammond B3/ keyboards
Nicholson explains any confusion. “I once heard Frank Beard of ZZ Top say 'I found the guys I wanted to play with when I was very young and I never wanted that to change'. I believe we all felt the same way.” It seemed more logical after the band decided to cut from the 100 or so dates they were playing each year; to focus on those songs and such that would satisfy the current fan base the Caprockers enjoy to this day. The band is more popular than ever and the turnout at the band's events document it.
The CapRockers have opened for many, many major touring acts (ZZ Top; Ted Nugent; Willie Nelson; Johnny Cash; Merle Haggard; Restless Heart; Travis Tritt, Steve Wariner; The Band Perry and countless others) The CapRockers have also played Billy Bob's Texas; the Orange Blossom (Mt. Pleasant, Texas); The Blue Light (Lubbock) and many, many other similar venues. They are often called upon to open for touring bands due to their professionalism and work ethic.
